Our waters are under constant assault, from a failure by the legislature to utilize the overwhelming mandate from the citizens of our State to purchase land under option from Big Sugar that would facilitate the efforts to restore the Everglades, and by the decision to increase the level of toxins that can be released into our waterways. This not a political issue, it doesn't matter whether you consider yourself a conservative, a liberal, a libertarian or something in between, you must be concerned with the health of the Caloosahatchee River Watershed.
The watershed is subject to harmful discharges on a regular basis. Blue-green algae blooms and turbidity plumes are becoming regular occurrences. Sea grasses are harmfully affected and the entire aquatic web of life is stressed. But we can make a difference and we can protect our Southwest Florida way of life.
Water quality is the lifeblood of our area; vital to all parts of the economy, social fabric, and leisure and underpinning our personal property values. It is a vital to our area, one that we must all work to improve. Please act now by supporting Calusa Waterkeeper with your donation. We appreciate your consideration and support.
